Police: Coaldale man charged with assault

Coaldale police charged Tyler Trovinger, 24, of Coaldale, with simple assault and harassment after he slammed a woman into a wall around 9:45 p.m. April 11, police said.

According to police, officers were called to St. Luke’s-Miners campus in Coaldale for a report of a domestic violence incident and spoke to the victim as she was being treated for multiple injuries in the emergency department.

Police said the woman told them that she and Trovinger began arguing in the living room of their apartment. During the argument, she said that Trovinger grabbed her by the upper body, swung her around and slammed her into a wall. Police said he then began smashing items in the apartment.

According to police, the woman left the apartment and went to the hospital. Police said she had a contusion over her eye, bruising on her upper body and a scratch on her back.

Trovinger was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, and is free on $10,000 percentage bail.
