Man faces threats charge

A Tamaqua man faces charges after making threats and showing up at another man’s home with an assault rifle Saturday night.

Matthew Truskey, 41, of Washington Street, was charged with terrorist threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct following the incident on Seneca Road in Mahoning Township.

He was initially committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning, but released on $75,000 posted on Monday.

According to court papers, Truskey sent messages to a woman temporarily staying at the home that the owner, another man, was “dead,” and he was coming for the dog.

The man showed up at the home with assault rifle, and the woman gave him the dog, which also belonged to her, court papers said. She told police that she was afraid of Truskey and demanded he leave.

She showed police the text messages on her phone, threatening the homeowner, who had a camera with images of Truskey with what appeared to be an assault rifle at the door, court papers said.
