State police at Hazleton

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police were summoned to investigate a theft by deception incident at 1:18 p.m. Feb. 23 at a residence on Railroad Drive. A 42-year-old Weatherly man reported he gave a 42-year-old Mountain Top man a check for $2,500 toward a $5,000 home improvement project.

Police said the check was cashed and the work was never done, resulting in the Mountain Top man being charged.

• A 26-year-old McAdoo man is facing drug possession charges after police made a traffic stop at 7:08 p.m. April 14 in the 200 block of North Kennedy Drive in Banks Township.

Police said he was stopped for speeding in a 2013 Hyundai. Police said he had a small amount of marijuana.

• Two Tresckow men, ages 56 and 42, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police were called to a dispute between neighbors at 11:09 a.m. April 12.

It happened on West Oak Street when the parties were involved in an argument that turned physical. Police said they were separated before their arrival and neither man was hurt in the altercation.
