Washington Twp. upgrades Slatedale playground

Slatedale Park, located next to the Slatedale Fire Station at 3922 Main St., Slatedale, is the newest renovation project for the Washington Township Supervisors.

The township first applied for a grant in 2018 and were denied. They reapplied and were approved in 2021 for a DCNR grant, which is a grant to assist organizations with funding for projects related to parks, recreation and conservation. They received $86,000 and supplied the rest from the township at a total cost for the renovation of $430,000.

The supervisors felt the residents needed a great park at this end of the township.

The project started with the tear down of all old and outdated playground equipment. It took about a year from planning until construction started. The new park is completed and ready for residents.

To go along with the existing baseball fields, there is a brand-new basketball court, pickleball court, beach volleyball court, all brand-new playground equipment and a dog park separated for large and small dogs.

The pavilion adjacent to the park may be rented by calling 610-767-8108.
