Palmerton’s Carly Gaffney was unhittable for the second consecutive outing as the Bombers rolled to another win on Wednesday.

SOFTBALL

Saucon Vy.-Palmerton

Carly Gaffney tossed her second consecutive no-hitter in a 15-0 three-inning Colonial League win over Saucon Valley.

Gaffney, who twirled a no-hitter in a 14-0 win over Pen Argyl Monday, recorded six strikeouts.

Mikayla Pengelly and Megan Matsko each generated three RBIs, and Sydney Frantz and Cadee Munjone both knocked in two runs for Palmerton, which improved to 8-1 overall.

Saucon Valley sank to 1-7 overall.

Northern Lehigh-Bangor

Grace Bauer drove in four runs on three hits to lead Northern Lehigh to a 15-5 Colonial League win against Bangor.

The Bulldogs (5-2) staked themselves to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first and later closed the game with seven runs in the sixth. Arabella Heintzelman scored two runs and knocked in two runs for the Bulldogs. Kylee Snyder and Kaitlyn Stock both had two RBIs, and Peyton Hoffman and Haylie Fenstermaker added two hits apiece.

Bauer and Heintzelman both had home runs.

Emma Smith went four innings and picked up the win.

Kaylynn Figurski had three hits for Bangor.

Northwestern-Pen Argyl

Sage Toman smacked three hits, and Emma Freeman struck out 10 in seven innings to pace Northwestern to an 11-2 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.

Toman added two RBIs, and Freeman collected three hits and an RBI for the Tigers, who won their sixth straight and raised their record to 11-1. Freeman also reached the 200th strikeout of her career in the win.

Isabelle Akelaitis and Abby Dunstan each chipped in with two hits and two RBIs apiece, and Shelby Mitman, Lizzie Diehl and Ella Bressi all added two hits toward the Tigers’ 17-hit assault.

Jillian Bradley had two hits and an RBI for Pen Argyl (4-5).

Emilee Slotcavage knocked in four runs to lead North Schuylkill to a 14-4 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton in six innings.

North Schuylkill, which improved its record to 8-3 overall, broke the game open with an eight-run third. The Spartans erupted for 17 hits.

Morgan Myers notched two hits and two RBIs, and Maggie Pagotto had two hits for Lehighton, which fell to 3-8. Brynn Mriss launched a solo homer for the Indians.

Summer Cupsta-Klinger went 4-for-4 with two RBIs to pace Tri-Valley to a 19-0 three-inning win over Marian.

Ava Snyder recorded three hits, and Kora Rodichok limited Marian to one-hit for Tri-Valley, which upped its mark to 7-2.

Morgan Kelly had the lone hit for Marian (5-4), which committed four errors.

Kaycee Raczka fired a one-hitter and notched 15 strikeouts to lead Minersville to a 9-0 shutout of Panther Valley.

Raczka and Payton Frantz each went 4-for-4 with two RBIs apiece for the Battlin’ Miners, who moved to 6-5 overall.

Kyla McQuillin had the lone hit for Panther Valley, which is now 3-3.

Edith Toothaker allowed two runs and scattered five hits to pace Pottsville to an 8-2 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

Toothaker, who also recorded nine strikeouts, added two RBIs for the Tide, who improved to 7-4.

Leah Crowley had two hits for Tamaqua, which is now 1-9 overall.

Williams Valley-Weatherly

Olivia Hand had four RBIs and struck out five over three innings as Williams Valley disposed of Weatherly 22-0 in three innings.

Ally Underkoffler added three hits for the Vikings, who scored 10 runs in the top of the second inning. The Vikings bumped their record to 8-2.

Rachel Rosenlund and Courtney Snyder each had a hit for Weatherly (2-6).

Northwestern-Pen Argyl

A three-run fifth inning was all Northwestern needed to secure a 4-1 Colonial League win over Pen Argyl.

The Tigers (9-3 overall; 8-1 CL) made the most of three errors and scored three runs, as Eli Zimmerman and Joshua Farber both scored on miscues by the Green Knights (8-3; 5-3). Farber’s RBI single plated Joshua Lichman with the other run that inning.

Cayden Fitch accounted for the other hit with a single in the first inning.

Palmerton completed a comeback with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge Saucon Valley for a 6-5 Colonial League victory.

AJ Borger scored the game-tying run on a wild pitch for the Bombers. Jacob Grammes crossed home plate with the game-winning run when Brady Reph grounded to shortstop and the throw went wide.

Grammes led the way for the Bombers (4-8 overall 3-5 CL) with three singles, a run scored and two RBIs, while Borger (two singles, two runs scored, RBI) and Derek King (two singles) both had multiple hits.

Mason George (five), AJ Borger (four) and Brady Reph (four) combined for a total of 13 strikeouts on the mound. Reph came on in relief in the fourth inning and earned the pitching win.

Owen Miller went the distance, tossing a complete game no-hitter to help Tri-Valley come away with a 12-1 Schuylkill League win over Marian.

Miller earned the pitching win for the Bulldogs (8-1 overall; 4-1 SL), as he struck out five, walked three and didn’t allow an earned run. Braeden Doyle paced the Bulldogs with three singles, three runs scored and two RBIs, while Miller helped himself with two singles, a double and an RBI.

The Colts (5-5; 3-2) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, as Dylan Zullo scored on a throwing error after reaching on a walk.

Jaxson Kreider had the hot bat for the Slaters (5-5 overall; 4-4 CL) with three singles and two runs scored, while Blake Kornafel followed with two singles, a run scored and three RBIs.

Brayden Buskirk paced the Bulldogs (1-6; 1-4) with a single and two RBIs, while Nicklaus Buskirk added a single and two runs scored.

Pleasant Valley-Parkland

Parkland capped its regular season with a 6-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over visiting Pleasant Valley.

Ben Keppel battled in his No. 3 singles for the Bears, who slipped to 9-7 overall. Keppel won the first set, but dropped the next two sets.

Manar Patel, Kevin Yao and Tom Gilchrist all swept singles play for the Trojans, who ended the season with a 13-2 mark.

The Colts posted a 74-64 win in the boys meet, while the Fillies ran away with a 101-40 win over the Golden Bears.

Caitlyn Kovatch (100, long jump), Addison Fritz (400, triple jump), Aliya Tikhtova (300H, high jump) and Olivia Thomas (shot put, discus) led the way for the Fillies with multiple victories.

Alex Porambo (400, 800), Jacob Tom (100, long jump) and Jesse Rodino (discus, javelin) paced the Colts with multiple first-place finishes.
