Summit Hill Arbor Day

The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be celebrating Arbor Day at 11 a.m. on April 27 in Summit Hill at the gazebo in Ludlow Park. The memorial trees will be planted in various parks in the borough.

The residents and officials of Summit Hill are invited to attend the ceremony.

Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center announced the menu for April 15-19.

Monday: Cheeseburger, Potato Wedges, Carrots, Clementine or Turkey Sandwich

Tuesday: Chicken, Red Potatoes, Vegetable Blend, Pudding or Beef and Cheese Sandwich

Wednesday: Pork, Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes, Apple Slices or Egg Salad Sandwich

Thursday: Center Closed

Friday: Pork BBQ, Chuckwagon Corn, Cole Slaw, Peaches or Ham Salad Sandwich

The senior center also announced the following events.

Sunshine Meeting on April 12 at 10 a.m. followed by Senior Game Practice.

Horse racing on April 15 at 11 a.m.; Birthday Bingo on April 16 at 10:45 a.m.; Senior Game Practice on April 17 at 10:30 a.m.; Center Closed April 18; Po-Keeno on April 19 at 11 a.m.

Senior Game Practice on April 22 at 10:30 a.m.; Bingo on April 23 at 10:45 a.m.; Po-Keeno on April 24 at 11 a.m.; Skeeball on April 25 at 11 a.m.; Movie and Popcorn on April 26 at 10 a.m.

Cards, Pool, Games, available daily from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. New members are welcome.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus Panther Valley Council is hosting a Pitch, Hit and Run Competition for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 at the Lansford Little League Complex on April 27.

The event is sponsored by Major League Baseball.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the competition begins at 9 a.m. Officials need the child’s proof of age to register.

The event is free but food and refreshments will be available on site.
