Track & Field Roundup: Results from April 9

Marian and Tamaqua gained Schuylkill League sweeps in track and field action on Tuesday.

The Colts and Fillies downed Schuylkill Haven, while the Blue Raiders dropped Pine Grove.

Elsewhere, the Palmerton boys also earned a sweep in Colonial League action to remain undefeated.

TRACK

Marian-Schuylkill Haven

Marian continued its early season success with a Schuylkill League sweep of Schuylkill Haven.

The Colts won 76-65, while the Fillies posted an 81-60 victory.

Albin Petschauer won the 800, 1600 and 3200 for the Colts, who were in action Saturday at the Tamaqua Invite and in a league meet Sunday.

Olivia Thomas won the shot put and discus for the Fillies.

ND-Pen Argyl-Palmerton

The Palmerton boys stayed unbeaten with a sweep over visiting Notre Dame of Green Pond and Pen Argyl in Colonial League action.

The Bombers earned a 130.5-18.5 win over the Green Knights and a 80.5-69.5 over the Crusaders in the boys meet. The Bombers fell to both the Green Knights (81-69) and the Crusaders (83-67) in the girls meet.

Ryan Burkett (shot put, discus) and Bryson Walters (300H, long jump) both had multiple first-place finishes for the Palmerton boys (4-0).

Nataly Walters earned four first-place finishes for the Bomber girls. She won both the 100 and 200, as well as the long and triple jump.

Tamaqua swept Pine Grove in Schuylkill League action.

The Blue Raiders rolled to a 97-52 win over the Cardinals on the boys’ side, while Tamaqua cruised to a 102-34 victory over the visitors in the girls meet.

Martin Griffin led the way with wins in the long, triple and high jump for the Blue Raider boys.

Alexis Buchala (1600, 3200) and Katelynn Fredericks (100H, 300H) also recorded multiple first-place finishes for the Tamaqua girls.

Minersville swept Panther Valley in Schuylkill League action.

The Miners won 128-21 in the boys meet, and 108-40 in the girls competition.

Morgan Orsulak won the high jump for the Panthers, and Mikayla Yurichek posted a victory in the javelin.

In the boys meet, Frank Shubeck won the 110 hurdles for Panther Valley.
