Palmerton Cat Project to host bingo, basket raffle Sunday

It will be an afternoon of fun for a great cause.

That’s what participants can expect when they attend the Palmerton Cat Project’s Gift Card & Cash Bingo Plus Basket Raffle fundraiser April 14 at the Aquashicola Fire Company.

Doors open at 10 a.m., and bingo starts at noon. The cost is $25 for an admission ticket which includes a bingo pack.

Tickets may also be purchased at the door, or through Palmerton Cat Project Facebook; Palmerton Cat Project volunteer, or Country Clippers Pet Grooming.

Each patron who plays the bingo has a chance to win gift cards from area businesses such as restaurants, diners, Lowe’s, Kohl’s, gas cards, amusement parks, massage therapy businesses, grocery stores, hairdressers and much more.

There are four special games which will consist of higher value gift cards and cash. Basket raffle consists of 60-plus items baskets and additional gift cards. Large auction table consists of items valued of $100 or more.

Those who wish to come and just play the basket raffle can without playing bingo, as there is no fee to enter to just play the basket raffle. The basket raffle is open to the public from 10 a.m. to noon.

Stacy Goldberg, who serves on the board for the Palmerton Cat Project, explained the importance of the fundraiser.

“This event is to raise money to help defer cost of medical expenses, food, litter, and spay and neutering kittens and cats in the Palmerton Area School District,” Goldberg said. “We also help rescuing cats and kittens getting them ready for there forever home, we also help TNR (trap and release) cats in feral colonies to cut down on unexpected litters, and treat cats if medical issues arise.”

There will be a merchandise table selling T-shirts, Gertrude hawk candy bars and cat cellphone holders, the kitchen will be open and there will be a bake sale as well.

Goldberg said any patron who attends the bingo and drops off an item from their wish list will be entered into a chance to win a lottery basket. Wish list items include: Purina cat chow, Purina kitten chow, litter, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, pee pads, flea combs, small litter boxes, KMR formula, syringes and nipples, garbage bags, laundry detergent and receiving blankets.

“We also want to send out a huge thank you from everyone at Palmerton Cat Project to all our sponsors, donators, volunteers and the support from our local community that helped to make this event possible,” she said. “We also would like to send out a message that kitten season has sprung, and we are always in need of Purina kitten and cat chow, litter and monetary donations, (so) check out our Amazon and Chewy wish list on our Facebook page, and we hope you continue your support throughout the year.”
