Attorney Daniel McCay was unanimously elected chairman of the Carbon County Republican Party at a convention of committeeman and committeewomen held in the courthouse, Jim Thorpe, on Saturday afternoon.

Marie E. Mayer, vice chairwoman of the party, presided at the meeting and extended greetings on behalf of Attorney William A. Wyatt, who resigned as party chairman.

Chairman McCay is a graduate of Harvard Law School who conducts a law office in Weatherly and Beaver Meadows.

He was nominated for the position by Attorney John Deutsch of Lehighton and his nomination was seconded by practically every district of the county.

The party also adopted a resolution honoring Paul Beattie of Jim Thorpe, who served chairman for 10 years prior to Atty. Wyatt’s tenure.
