Irene Gangaware, of 339 W. Patterson St., Lansford, was honored by the Lansford Improvement Committee during its second annual Easter egg event held on Palm Sunday in Kennedy Park.

The ceremony was held on the front porch of her home by a small entourage as an illness prevented her from attending the event.

The committee presented Mrs. Gangaware a plaque that acknowledged her there for the park for years, even before there was a committee.

She and her husband, Grant, have lived across the street from the park for the past 30 years and had helped beautify the park, planting flowers there, often decorating trees with bows and trimming the trees.
