Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. A contemporary service is held at 8:30 a.m., followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. A traditional service is held at 11 a.m.

GriefShare: A new 13-week GriefShare class will begin at 10 a.m. on April 3 in Room 113. Signups in the lobby. For more information, contact Harold Sandford at 484-613-0474 or 484-408-5100.

April Mission: Samaritan’s Purse.

Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.

Food pantry: If you would like to donate canned goods and/or nonperishable food items for the food pantry, please drop off in the church lobby. If you know a family or friend in need of food we would like to help.

Sunday school help needed: The church is in need of more Sunday school teachers and helpers. Please contact Sue Moyer if you would like to join the rotating schedule at 610-852-2381.

Benevolence committee: The committee is looking for new members to help with assisting those who are in need of funds. If interested in helping, contact Sandy Jenkins by calling the church office.

New Sunday school series: Contemporary adult class led by Sam Heiney in Room 113. Theme is “Just Walk Across the Room.”

St. Luke’s: Volunteer opportunities are available at St. Luke’s Carbon campus. For those wishing to volunteer, visit www.sluhn.org/volunteerNOW or call 484-526-4600.

Looking ahead:

• Spring ladies luncheon, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., April 20. Topic: Standing Tall, presented by Deb Davies. Sign up in the church lobby or email Jan Lazarchak at jklpta@yahoo.com. Deadline to register is April 7.

• An AARP Driver Training will be held April 29 and 30 at Faith Alive. The course is open for seniors ages 55 and older. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Those who complete the 8-hour course can receive a discount on car insurance. For more details, call the church office.

• Communion Demonstration: 1:30 p.m. on April 6 in the church kitchen. The event is open to all interested in being Communion stewards. For more information, call Linda at 610-852-3833.

Free Community Meal

St. John’s UCC, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, will take place from 4:30-6 p.m. on April 9. The meal consists of meatloaf, oven roasted potatoes, carrots and desserts.

Dementia 101

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton, will host “Dementia 101: Understanding the Diagnosis” at 6:30 p.m. on April 30.

The workshop, presented by Mrs. Bush’s Personal Care Homes, is for caregivers covering the basics of dementia and providing advice on communicating with those diagnosed with the condition.

RSVP is not required but is appreciated. To RSVP, call 610-681-4412 by April 28.

Jerusalem Evangelical

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold a ham & dandelion take out dinner, April 13 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The church is located at 500 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville).
