Birds flying in and out of an attic in Franklin Township have several neighboring property owners concerned.
Brian Smith, of Church Street, told township supervisors recently that the birds have been flying in and out of the house at 89 Penn St. After the meeting, Smith said “the birds have been flying in and out of the attic for years all day long due to the soffit being open across the front of the house.
“The attic has to be full of bird manure, which we all know is very unhealthy for humans,” Smith said. “Between all the cats in the house plus the birds, a big concern is even if the house is OK to be lived in.”
Smith said that two other neighbors who couldn’t make last week’s meeting are also concerned.
He said a young couple who recently purchased a home at 140 Penn St. have remodeled, and that cats are spraying all over their breezeway. Smith added that the smell is horrible.
Also, he said the couple who recently purchased 110 Penn St. have remodeled their home, and now the cats are hanging on their property.
Smith noted that the most expensive damage that was done occurred at the property of Greg Bryfogle after one of the cats got in Bryfogle’s garage where he had two classic remodeled cars.
The cat went in the one car and tore up the leather front seat of the one car, an $1,100 seat, Smith said.
“This situation is only escalating, and all the neighbors are feeling like the matter doesn’t take priority to the township,” he said.
Smith and Bryfogle were among several residents who attended last week’s meeting upset with cats from a neighboring property that are on the loose and causing damage to their properties.
