A doughnut shop and restaurant is going to be built in Lehighton and it is expected to be open by the summer. Last night, the Lehighton Zoning Hearing Board gave David Robinson of Glenside the go-ahead for the shop’s construction by allowing a variance which exempts the builder from complying with a maximum building size specification defined in the borough’s zoning ordinance.

“Yummy Doughnuts” will be built along Route 209 at the intersection with the Weissport bridge. It will be owned by Robinson’s sons, Dale and Mark, and, in addition to selling doughnuts, will be open for breakfast and lunches that will be served in a type of fast-food setup.
