The Rev. F. Peter Muhr, 109 N. Greenwood St., Tamaqua, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Tamaqua, has been selected as “Citizen of the Year” by the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce.

Walter Kruczek, chairman of the selection committee, said the pastor was selected from 16 people who were nominated for the award by numerous community organizations, and said, “It was an easy decision. Pastor Muhr was the choice, there really wasn’t much need for a discussion.”

A native of Bethlehem, he became pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Aug. 1, 1974, and has been active in the community since that appointment.
