March 28, 1973 - The North Schuylkill Basketball League changes its name to the Schuylkill County Interscholastic Athletic League at a meeting of athletic directors and principles. The purpose of the name change is to more centralize the various sports operating in the area. All the member schools of the NSL approve the change. The intent of the change is not to disrupt current leagues, such as wrestling, golf, softball, etc. but to bring them under the same banner. Auxiliary membership will be offered to schools in the Tri-County Wrestling League. The only sport not under the new name is football.
