The Panther Valley School Board approved advertising for a new box truck, which will be used for summer food service distribution and be paid for by the cafeteria fund.
The district last month announced the summer food program, in which it will offer free breakfast and lunch to minors living within the district’s boundaries during summer break.
The free meals will be available to anyone under the age of 18 in the district, including those enrolled in cyber school.
Business manager Jesse Walck on Wednesday noted that they’re looking at distributions of breakfasts and lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Seven days of meals will be provided, split between the two distribution days.
Meals will be delivered to each of the communities comprising the district, starting in Summit Hill from 10 to 10:30 a.m.; Lansford from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m., Coaldale from 12:30 to 1 p.m., and Nesquehoning from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
Additional information will be released before summer break, Walck said.
