Bowmanstown property owners contacted over pump inspections

Some headway has been made with several of the last few residents yet to have their sump pumps inspected in Bowmanstown.

Borough Councilman Rob Moyer has contacted three of the seven property owners who have not responded to the sump pump letters that were sent out.

It was noted that Moyer still has the remaining four to speak to, per an update given at borough council’s workshop on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Councilman Darren Thomas suggested going in with search warrants to the properties that have yet to comply.

But Moyer said at that time, he was firmly opposed to utilizing that method.

Public Works supervisor Chris Bixler noted at that meeting that certified letters have been sent out, and phone calls have been made.

Thomas said the situation becomes even more magnified during bad storms.

Councilwoman Kara Scott said at that time she believes council should see what other boroughs are doing.

Bixler said that since the borough started the process, he’d like to see it through.

Moyer said he would take it upon himself to check with the property owners who have yet to comply.

In December, council said it was still attempting to contact 19 property owners for sump pump inspections.
