Bach and Handel Chorale plans Easter concert

The Bach and Handel Chorale, based out of Jim Thorpe, will present “The Passion of Christ” by Georg Frideric Handel at 4 p.m. this Sunday in The Lutheran Church of St. John in the Heights, 319 South Avenue in Jim Thorpe.

Maestro Randall Douglas Perry will conduct and accompany the chorale.

The concert will open with the singing of the Palm Sunday favorite anthem “The Palms” by J. Faure, with Edward Sayre singing the baritone solo.

“The Passion of Christ” by Handel retraces the events of the betrayal, crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.

This version is an edited version that reduces the time of the piece from three hours to approximately 45 minutes. The various solos depicting the characters of the passion are sung by chorale members.

There is no admission but a free will offering will be accepted.
