A property next to a Lehighton church has a congregation member upset.

Sandra Kokinda, a member of Bethany Evangelical Church at 222 North Street, addressed the property next to the church.

Kokinda said the backyard of the property next to the church at 216-218 North Street is in a bad state, and that “it’s literally a dump.”

“A lot of it is just plain garbage rotting there,” Kokinda said. “We’re going to have rodents.”

Further, Kokinda said there are people coming and going from the back of the building.

“We would be willing to help,” she said. “We have always tried to be good neighbors.”

Councilman Ryan Saunders said the matter is something the borough needs to have addressed.

Councilwoman Autumn Abelovsky agreed that the borough needs to take steps to address the issue.
