Former fire chief charged with stealing over $47K

The former chief of the Klecknersville Rangers Fire Department has been charged with stealing over $47,000 from the department.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by the Moore Township Police Department in the case against Jon Mann:

Police said Mann, 46, of Danielsville, had been using fire department funds for personal use, and was using a debit card that was linked to the debit account for the fire department for personal purchases and ATM cash withdrawals.

Mann admitted to purchasing a bulldozer on July 29 for personal use.

Police were told Mann would make personal purchases at Miller Supply and the fire company would send a check paying the amount.

Mann would also ask the treasurer for checks for reimbursement but wouldn’t provide receipts.

The new treasurer for the Klecknersville Rangers Fire Company provided receipts and a spreadsheet of the amounts Mann spent.

Mann cashed checks that were made out to him, transactions done at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE Miller Supply and Tractor Supply.

None of the checks made out to Mann or the transactions he made for personal use were authorized by the Klecknersville Rangers Fire Company.

Mann admitted to police to cashing numerous checks, using the debit card purchases at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE Miller Supply, Tractor Supply and numerous ATM withdrawals for cash without permission from the Klecknersville Rangers Fire Company.

Mann is charged with unauthorized uses totaling $47,643.

He faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Mann is currently free in lieu of $50,000 unsecured bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing March 28 before District Judge Robert A. Hawke of Walnutport.
