ON THIS DATE MARCH 12, 1963

Sharon Kennedy, a senior at Lansford High School, and Norman Nesterak, a Coaldale High School senior, were judged the girl and boy winner of the 35th Annual Panther Valley Oratorical Contest held last night in the Coaldale High School auditorium.

Miss Kennedy, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Kennedy of East Patterson Street, used as her oration topic “The Sleeping Boy,” while Nesterak, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nesterak of Fifth Street, spoke on “The Uncommon Man.”

Other contestants were William Strauss, Lansford, Thomas Bynon and Belle Ann Kozuch, Summit Hill, Joseph Ligenza and Lucille Cherciaro, Nesquehoning, and Marianne Smith, Coaldale.
