Seventy percent of the property owners in the Lake Hauto development petitioned the Nesquehoning Borough Council last night to annex the development, prompting the town leaders to authorize Attorney Robert Lazorchick, their solicitor, to prepare the necessary papers for the annexation proceeding.

The property currently is part of Rush Township, whose supervisors earlier this week went on record opposing the annexation of any part of the township to either Tamaqua or Nesquehoning boroughs.

Marvin Milan, Tamaqua borough manager, had suggested Tamaqua annex parts of Rush and Rahn townships provided the landowners in the two areas take the initial step.
