The Carbon County Homelessness Task Force has listed the following goals:
• Create a culture of information sharing, partnership and collaboration.
• Obtain the necessary data available on homelessness specific to Carbon County and comparative data from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and on a national level.
• Assess the current strengths, areas of improvement needed, and gaps in service delivery to effectively respond to homeless individuals and families.
• Learn from individuals who are currently homeless or were previously homeless.
• Access traditional funding and explore innovative, nontraditional funding opportunities to support community needs which address homelessness.
• Obtain buy-in from local media that homelessness is an important community issue worthy of journalistic reporting.
• Obtain buy-in from local governments and officials to support by all possible means community-based assistance for homeless adults, children and families and to promote community engagement as well as the efforts of public-sector organizations addressing the crisis of homelessness, including but not limited to adoption of humane local policies and dissemination of educational information.
• Communicate Task Force activities to the community-at-large.
