Pike and Monroe counties in Pennsylvania ranked No. 1 and 2 in the category of fastest-growing counties in the commonwealth, according to new data announced by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Pike remained the fastest growing county in the state when its population increased by nearly 32% over the past five years to a new total of 36,852.

Monroe had the second highest growth, 21.5%, and has a population of 95,582.

Meanwhile, Carbon County’s population increased by 3.3% to 58,832; Schuylkill’s went up by 0.7%, to 153,616; Lehigh’s increased 2.3% to 297,838; and Northampton County’s increase was 3.9%, its population now standing at 256,796.
