Free Community Meal

St. John’s UCC, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, will hold a free community meal on March 12 from 4:30-6 p.m.

The menu will be a Reuben casserole. No takeouts will be available before 5:30 p.m.

Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. A contemporary service is held at 8:30 a.m., followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. A traditional service is held at 11 a.m.

• March 10: 8:30 a.m. worship; 9:45 a.m. Sunday school; 11 a.m. worship; 6 p.m. Youth Group.

• March 11: 7 p.m. Church council.

• March 13: 10 a.m. special GriefShare meeting on how to handle the holidays; 11:30 a.m. Lenten Bible Study; 7 p.m. Lenten Bible Study with prayer and praise.

• March 17: 8:30 a.m. worship; 9:45 a.m. Sunday school; 11 a.m. worship; 6 p.m. Youth Group.

Easter egg hunt: Donations of small individually wrapped candy is now being accepted for the kids’ egg hunt on March 24. Drop off candy in the lobby. Plastic eggs are not being accepted.

GriefShare: A new 13-week GriefShare class will begin at 10 a.m. on April 3 in Room 113. For more information, contact Harold Sandford at the church office.

March Mission: Red Bird Mission Conference is an institution that provides education and Christian Evangelism ministries to residents of the area.

New Sunday School Series: A contemporary adult Sunday school class will begin on March 10. It will be led by Sam Heiney in room 113 and include a six-week DVD series.

Food pantry: If you would like to donate canned goods or non-perishable food items, drop off in the church lobby. If you know a family in need of food we would like to help.

Benevolence committee: The committee is looking for new members. If interested in helping, contact Sandy Jenkins by calling the church office.

• Spring ladies luncheon, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., April 20. Topic: Standing Tall, presented by Deb Davies. Sign up in the church lobby or email Jan Lazarchak at jklpta@yahoo.com. Deadline to register is April 7.

• An AARP Driver Training will be held April 29 and 30 at Faith Alive. The course is open for seniors ages 55 and older. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Those who complete the 8-hour course can receive a discount on car insurance. For more details, call the church office.

• Communion Demonstration: 1:30 p.m. on April 6 in the church kitchen. The event is open to all interested in being Communion stewards. For more information, call Linda at 610-852-3833.

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold its annual Basket Social and Bake Sale on March 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
