Palmerton Area School District is looking to create an alumni database that will help it better track graduates and determine possible ways they can help current students.
Superintendent Dr. Jodi Frankelli said during a board workshop Tuesday night that many Bomber graduates have a lot of value to offer the district whether it be through presentations to students or other ways.
“We don’t currently have a way to track alumni and we really should,” Frankelli said. “A lot of our graduates do stay local whether that be in Palmerton or in the Carbon County area as a whole.”
Frankelli said she has created a Google form to collect information from alumni such as their career and life highlights since earning a Palmerton diploma.
“There are various skill sets our alumni have that could be of great value to our students,” she said. “We’ll be having a soft rollout and sending the form to our board members and staff who have graduated from Palmerton so that we can ensure the questions are clear and we’re getting the information we want.”
Directors also suggested an alumni section be created on Palmerton’s website.
“The wrestling parents club for the past few years has had an alumni night and I think this kind of thing can snowball and work well when it comes to those types of events,” director MaryJo King said. “I know a lot of the alumni would love to get back involved with the school district in some way.”
