A Tamaqua man will serve 4 to 10 years in state prison for child pornography charges in Schuylkill and Carbon counties, according to state Attorney General Michelle Henry.

Brandon Lusch, 22, was sentenced Friday by judges in the two counties, in accordance with a plea agreement.

As part of the sentence, Lusch will also serve 10 years of probation, after the prison and parole terms expire, and he must register as a sex offender for 25 years.

The Attorney General’s office investigated Lusch and filed charges after he was found with child pornography while using Snapchat. Law enforcement officials also determined Lusch had taken lewd photographs of children and was in possession of those photos.

“This defendant both possessed and manufactured child pornography, and my office was vigilant in prosecuting this heinous conduct,” Henry said. “This case is another example of the potential dangers of social media, and predators use those platforms as means to exploit and abuse children.”

Lusch was sentenced to 3 to 6 years in prison, plus 5 years of probation, in the Carbon County case. In the Schuylkill County case, he was sentenced to 1 to 4 years in prison, plus 5 years of probation. Those sentences will be served consecutively.

Lusch pleaded guilty to multiple counts of possessing and manufacturing child pornography, invasion of privacy, and criminal use of a communication facility.

The cases were prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Michelle Laucella.
