Luncheon

Pottsville Christian Women’s Club is hosting a “Hop Into Spring” luncheon at 11:30 a.m., March 19 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 101 Graeff St., Cressona.

Speaker will be Sharon Duncan with special music by Brenda Reed.

The group will also be collecting donations for Jewel (formerly CareNet). Needed are diapers sizes newborn through six, boys clothes sizes infant to 3T, wipes, toiletries, small toys, sippy cups, baby books.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical UM Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Praise in Song service at 6:30 p.m. No Wednesday service until after Easter.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Communion will be included in this service. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

The next episodes of The Chosen will be shown on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Sunday school room.

Thrift Sale

Blessing Thrift ministry at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tamaqua is hosting its first sale of the year Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winter and spring clothing and household and holiday items are featured.

A limited take-out kitchen menu is also available. Major credit cards accepted. No checks. Zion is located at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets. To donate items, call 570-668-2180.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Feb. 22 with 23 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the reading “Little Acts Of Kindness.” Shirley Kaiser was added to the sick list. Pat Bednarik, Mike Trubilla and Sarah Huber were given a warm welcome back by the group. A senior trip to Knoebel’s Grove is being planned for June 5.

The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on Feb. 27 with 34 member in attendance. The meeting was opened by the group president.

Birthdays in February are being celebrated by Mary Reed, Nancy Nuemacher, Eleanor Schmerfeld, Ruth Betz and Norma Lee Burke.

Reminders: Collection of dues and election of officers will be in May.

The group meets at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday at Christ Church, Barnesville. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.
