Monroe County Commissioners
The Monroe County commissioners approved the following items last week:
• Proclaimed March 1 to be Employee Appreciation Day in the county.
John Christy, the chairman of the commissioners, provided the details about the expenses.
• Sheriff’s Office overtime report for the period ending Feb. 11: deputies, 62.25 hours; security, 24 hours; and clerks, 18.75 hours.
• Also granted overtime are Penny Robson, Ashley Fitzner, Dawn Ackerman, Samantha Dolcek and Jason Demsey for up to two hours per day from Feb. 20 through April 24;
• Monroe County District Attorney: Contract Service Provider Agreement with E. David Christine, Esquire as DA emeritus/mentor from Jan. 2 to Dec. 31, totaling $10,000;
• Children and Youth Services: service agreement with - Carson Valley Children’s Aid from July 1, 2023 to June 30, contract limit of $260,000; Acollective Consulting from July 1, 2023 to June 30, contract limit of $350,000; and People R. Us Community Residential Services Inc. from July 1, 2023 to June 30, contract limit of $100,000;
• Ratify budget adjustment in the amount of $2,600 to the Monroe County Department of Aging for a lease vehicle payment, and approve budget adjustment in the amount of $314,303, both on Feb. 14. Of this amount, $207,000 is conditional funding applied to a block grant for the Department of Aging. Then $16,000 is for an audit, and the remainder is for courts for various bills.
• Request from the Vietnam Veterans of America - Pocono Chapter 678 to use Courthouse Square for a Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony on March 29;
• Agreements with Leon Clapper Plumbing, Heating and Water Conditioning Inc. for installation of a backflow preventer in the amount of $1,950 at the “Old Jail” at 34 N. Seventh St., Stroudsburg, and $1,750 at the “Old Detective Building” at 38 N. Seventh St. per BCRA
• Memorandum of Agreement between Teamsters Local 773 and County of Monroe regarding Classification Specification of Assistant Public Defenders and Assistant District Attorneys and minimum qualifications. This allows the county to hire - with the approval of the deans of the law schools - new law school graduates, who are waiting for the results of their bar exam. These graduates would work under an attorney doing briefs and such for the Public Defender’s office and the District Attorney’s office.
• Add vendors to the county list of approved vendors: Information Services: MBI LLC; Fiscal: ARTisaSHIP, Nelson Architecture and Interiors Inc. and J. Anwar & Associates.
• Conservation District: Execute agreement with ESU Student Activity Association Inc. Stony Acres for a weeklong residential camp from July 20 to 27 for high school students;
• Grants: Fiscal director to electronically sign Detection and Mitigation Grant 2022-DM-01 40884 with grant award total of $160,279 for Detection and Mitigation in Confinement Facilities at the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
• Acknowledge the completion of term for the following board members with the Monroe and Pike Counties Community Services Administrative Board: John Moyer, Patrinia Smith and Deborah Staniszewski;
• Acknowledge the resignation of Carlos Hidalgo and Heidi Pickard from the Administrative Board of the Monroe and Pike Counties Community Services;
• Monroe County Municipal Waste Authority: Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Plan Non-Substantial Revision as presented by the Solid Waste Advisory Committee;
• Computer capital purchases: For two Dell laptop computers for the Public Defender’s office, and a laptop and printer for the District Attorney’s Crisis Intervention team totaling $4,654.14 dated Feb. 15.
