Valentine’s campaign collects 12,600 cards

Blue Ridge’s Touch A Heart campaign broke last year’s record of 11,000 handmade Valentine cards with over 12,600 cards collected.

The cards were sent to 110 different organizations offering love and encouragement to nursing home residents, veterans, soldiers, caregivers, hospital patients, and others who may not have otherwise received a personalized Valentine’s message this year.

“We would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone in the community who participated in our Touch A Heart initiative,” said Julianne Brixius, Marketing/Community Relations Coordinator for Blue Ridge. “We are blown away by how the community comes together each and every year, but especially this year. A simple gesture of a handmade card on Valentine’s Day is a wonderful way to make someone feel special and brighten their day.”

Debra Briggs from Celebrate Recovery, one of the organizations receiving handmade Valentine cards for distribution, said, “As the new Outreach Director at Mohn’s Hill Church and a Leader at Celebrate Recovery in Ephrata, I cannot express how very special this was to distribute these Valentines to our Celebrate Recovery Group. The people who received them were touched and full of smiles. This was a beautiful act of love displayed by our children.”
