Eldred Township supervisor Blaine Silfies resigned from his part-time position with the township’s public works department at last week’s supervisors meeting.
Gary Hoffman, chairman of the supervisors, said they accepted the resignation with regret.
“Thank you very much. You’ve helped out a lot,” Hoffman said.
Silfies, 72, said he always held a policy of never quitting, but this time he need to do so.
“I’m getting too old,” Silfies said. “I just tore a hamstring three weeks ago, so it’s time that I need to retire.”
Silfies plans to continue on as a supervisor. He was elected to the seat in November 2021. He replaced JoAnn Bush, who did not run for re-election.
