One person attends first gov’t forum

A Palmerton borough official hopes the next session to learn about how the governmental process works has a better showing.

Borough Manager Autumn Canfield recapped the inaugural government forum that was held Tuesday at the Palmerton Area Library.

Canfield noted attendance was sparse, as in “We (only) had one attendee, but we had a wonderful conversation,” said Canfield, who added forums will continue to be held. “Hopefully, attendance will pick up.”

During Tuesday’s session, entitled Let’s Talk Government, Palmerton Borough presented its monthly forum for discussion of government operations.

That meant those who attended could learn about budgeting, grants, operations, services, regulatory entities, assets, and more.

Last month, borough council approved the partnership with the Palmerton Area Library for a local government forum.

She said that while open communication and better transparency are important aspects, education is also a top priority.
