Members of the Franklin Township Board of Supervisors accepted the resignation of Russell Ahner Jr. as chief of the Franklin Township Fire Company during their meeting last night.

Ahner has been the chief of the company since its inception about six years ago.

The supervisors named Willard R. Ahner as acting chief until the fire company recommends a new chief and the board approves the recommendation.

Willard Ahner is currently the assistant fire chief of the company and the outgoing chief’s brother.
