Letter to the Editor: Rep. Wild is a compassionate legislator

I laughed after reading Republican Dan Meuser’s recent letter referring to Democrat Susan Wild’s comments. He continues to back the GOP without a platform, a dictator-wanna-be for president, who when president, pressured Mike Pence with taunts and lies and fomented violence against his own vice president, endangering his life. A Judas betrayal by the so-called party of faith, family and freedom, which is a sham. Voters should remember Meuser’s election denial in 2020.

Rep. Susan Wild has shown she is a compassionate legislator. She has co-sponsored many bills, including “Social Security 2100 Act” which ensures continued Medicare retirement with dignity. She has a long record of supporting small business and investing in job creation. She is on the way to re-election.

Democrats have been the most consistent defenders of the “Bill of Rights.” They promote interests of the working class, defend safe working conditions, clean air and water, Social Security and Medicare, consumer protection, infrastructure, and education. Voting records reveal who legislators serve and who they protect.

Since when have Republicans ever attended to the economic priorities of the middle class and those below. Rural folks and the working class way of life was destroyed by the exact same people they voted for, as they were sucked in by Republican propaganda. The wealthy have shaped tax policy and shifted it to employees. Reagan’s “trickle down economics” was a lie, he is the one who proposed globalization (C-SPAN Jan. 11, 1988) which fast tracked NAFTA; jobs went over seas, causing flat wages, now we have thousands of inferior products, as corporate profits soared ever since.

The Republican Party is a bunch of plutocrats, leaning toward autocracy and theocracy. Take your pick. They fought hard against Biden for increased funding to update the current IRS system because of difficulty with complex corporate tax filings which would finally crack down on large corporate and high income tax cheats.

As a native, rural Pennsylvanian, I completely understood Susan’s comments and what she was referring to. I think any anger about her comments are from those who don’t want the illusion destroyed.
