Tamaqua Area School Board approved the following:
• Approved the Drama Club’s out-of-state trip, April 14, to New York City.
• Ratified Feb. 19, 2024, as an Act 80 Day. The day was a snow make-up day, and instead of bringing in students, the staff came in for professional development, Superintendent Ray Kinder said.
• Approved the 2024-25 Schuylkill Intermediate Unit No. 29 calendar and its operating budget.
• Approved the district’s 2024-25 school calendar. The first day of school is scheduled for Aug. 22, and last day for students and graduation is set for May 28, 2025.
• Approved homebound instruction for one West Penn Elementary School student.
• Approved an out-of-state trip to Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey, on May 3 for physics and honor physics students to participate in Physics Day at the park. Departure is 7:30 a.m. with return at 7:30 p.m.
• Approved the 2024-25 Schuylkill Technology Center secondary budget.
• Approved the discipline contract for an elementary student in violation of the discipline code.
