Carbon sheriff’s office warns about jury scam

The Carbon County Sheriff’s office has issued a warning that someone is using the agency’s name to attempt to scam people.

On Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s office posted on its Facebook page that they have received reports of a person named “Blake Anderson” calling people and stating that he is a member of the sheriff’s office who is attempting to solicit money. The number people have reported this call coming from is 570-334-5341.

In some cases, people are being told they have an arrest warrant because they failed to attend jury duty.

The sheriff’s office states that this person does not work for the county.

Sheriff Daniel Zeigler stressed that this is a scam and that the sheriff’s office would not call people to solicit money.

If you receive a call from this person, you may report it to your local police department.
