West Penn Township supervisors agreed Tuesday morning to pay a deposit of $3,988 for a second recycling bin.
That came after Supervisor Glenn Hummel noted that at the board’s last meeting, the situation of the recycling bins had come up.
“I believe we should probably purchase that,” Hummel said. “(It) gives us a second bin up there.”
Afterward, the board agreed to send a letter to Mark T. Boyle Welding & Industrial Sandblasting so that the township may recoup the cost.
Currently, the township has two recycling bins, one of which Warner was letting the township borrow until it got a new one.
Warner also offered the township to buy, which is what it’s going to do.
In July, board Chairman Tony Prudenti said that the township had hired Mark T. Boyle Welding & Industrial Sandblasting to get a new recycling bin.
In May 2022, then Supervisor Tim Houser said there has been a constant concern that the recycling bin isn’t enough, and that there would be interest in a second dumpster.
Assistant Fire Chief Connor Evans said he would be in favor of a second bin, but added there are a few things that hadn’t been completed yet, such as cameras and more lighting for the nighttime hours.
