State police at Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following:

• Police were summoned to a hit-and-run incident at 9:52 p.m. Feb. 9 on East Abbott Street in Lansford.

An unknown vehicle traveling west sideswiped a 2021 Nissan Rogue that was legally parked at 607 E. Abbott St. and left the scene.

• A 54-year-old Coaldale man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 1:13 a.m. Jan. 28 at the intersection of West Bertsch Street and Parkway Road in Lansford.

He was stopped for multiple Title 75 violations while driving a 2015 Dodge Stratus.

• Police charged Jim Akers, 31, of East Stroudsburg, with terroristic threats after they responded to an incident at 12:14 a.m. Jan. 18 at a property on Peggy Lane in Polk Township.

The victims are a 15-year-old girl from Effort and a 19-year-old woman from Bangor. Police said it was determined Akers assaulted the girl.

• A 27-year-old Kunkletown man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police conducted a traffic stop at 1:44 a.m. Jan. 29 at the intersection of Bridge and South First streets in Lehighton.

He was stopped for a vehicle violation while driving a 2004 Mazda.

• A 27-year-old Summit Hill man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 2:03 a.m. Jan. 30 at the intersection of Troxell and Mahoning Mountain roads in East Penn Township.

He was stopped for violations while driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt.

• A 60-year-old Jim Thorpe man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop made by police at 1:34 a.m. Jan. 11 at the intersection of West Patterson and Coal streets in Lansford.

He was stopped for multiple violations while driving a 1987 Chevrolet S10.

• Paris Medley, 29, of Columbus, Ohio, was charged with simple assault/harassment after police were called to a fight at 9:28 p.m. Feb. 11 at 13 Center St., Lansford.

Police identified the victim as Fantasia Ortega, 26, of Girardville.

• Giuseppe Bordonaro, 55, of Saylorsburg, and Mark G. Smith Jr., 25, of Tobyhanna, were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:54 p.m. Feb. 5 on Meixsell Valley Road in Ross Township. Police said they did not require a medical transport after the incident.

Police did not provide the details of the crash except to say Bordonaro was driving a 2003 Audi and Smith was operating a 2020 Chevrolet.
