Lansford Borough Council on Wednesday received updates on several properties, some of which the borough plans to raze.
Solicitor Robert Yurchak told council that a person from Staten Island, New York, put in a bid of $11,999 on property at 22 W. Ridge St. in a repository sale and the borough has 60 days to oppose it.
Council voted to oppose the sale of the property at the repository, or free and clear, sale. Yurchak said that sale would have gone through automatically, if the borough hadn’t opposed it within 60 days.
Yurchak also updated council on a few items, including its opposition to the tax sale of 334 W. Bertsch St., which the borough was preparing to tear down. A hearing is scheduled in Carbon County court on March 15.
Council President Bruce Markovich noted that a burned property at 316 W. Patterson St. will be coming down this summer, as the county notified the borough that it will be soliciting bids.
Resident Joe Genits asked if there was any progress on another home that the borough plans to raze at 151-151½ W. Ridge St. The borough put up concrete barriers along West Snyder Avenue behind the towering structure, which was deemed in danger of collapse.
Genits noted last week issues with the road, and asked if the barriers could be moved back some. Council Vice President Jay Doyle, who chairs the public works committee, said that he would look at it.
