Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following:

• Police were summoned at 10:07 a.m. Jan. 26 to a property on Fir Road in Chestnuthill Township to investigate a ChildLine report they received regarding the welfare of an 8-year-old girl from Kunkletown.

• A suspected child abuse case is under investigation in Chestnuthill Township

Police said a third party called them to report the abuse having happened between midnight and 5 p.m. Feb. 4 at a property on Lakeside Road in the township.

• Police were summoned to a harassment by physical contact incident that happened between 12:29 a.m. and 1:22 p.m. Jan. 25 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

The victim is a 15-year-old girl from Effort who said she was touched in an inappropriate manner by an 18-year-old male student while at school.

• A 36-year-old Brodheadsville woman reported a theft to police at 8:53 p.m. Feb. 2.

It happened at a property on Countryside Drive, Chestnuthill Township, when a suspect stole $450 in cash from the woman, they said.

• A 65-year-old Effort woman had a registration plate on her car stolen and police said it is being used in New York.

Police said the woman related she received three EZ Pass charges for the plate that was on her former vehicle, a 2021 Honda CRV that was involved in a crash on Oct. 9. The car was towed from the scene and determined to be “totaled” by the insurance company.

They said the plate is valued at $100 and the EZ Pass charges are another $100.

• No one was injured when a vehicle struck an automobile tire that was laying on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

It happened at 5:25 p.m. Jan. 8 when Mark J. Wagner, 66, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 and was unable to avoid striking the tire.

• Gianna Varone, 20, of Brodheadsville, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:51 p.m. Jan. 31 on Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said she was driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy northbound when she lost control of it. The car entered the southbound lane and hit the guide rail on its shoulder. It was towed from the scene.

• David Fiorito, 19, of Albrightsville, was cited for disorderly conduct when police were called to an incident at 6:51 p.m. Jan. 30 at a property on Stony Mountain Road, Penn Forest Township.

Police said the victim is a 19-year-old man from Jim Thorpe who reported they were in an argument when Fiorito entered her vehicle and pushed it 30-340 feet from behind before fleeing the scene.

• Police said “no trespassing” signs at a property on Chippewa Trail, Penn Forest Township, were stolen between Jan. 29 and 30. The signs are valued at $20.

• Nicole Shoemaker, 35, of Kunkletown, is facing misdemeanor charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property after police were called to the Weis Market, 924 Weir Lake Road, Chestnuthill Township, at 9:01 a.m. Feb. 6.

Police said they were told she left the store on Feb. 3 with $438 in unpaid-for merchandise and was identified with the public’s assistance.

• Police were called to a criminal mischief incident that happened in the evening hours of Jan. 26 on the 1200 block of Juno Drive, Chestnuthill Township.

The resident said someone damaged his mailbox valued at $200 and left the scene in a 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution.
