The Jim Thorpe Tourism Agency’s 2024 Winterfest is this weekend.

It kicks off tonight with shopping in downtown with merchants staying open late and free parking after 5 p.m.

Winterfest continues Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the streets of Jim Thorpe lined with luminaries.

On Saturday, there Stacey Valdez of Fairy Moon Yoga leads a one-hour yoga class. Bring your own mat.

Also Saturday, there will be music in Josiah White Park and live ice carving at 5 West Broadway.

On Sunday, there will be music in Josiah White Park and the bubble snow display.

The Jim Thorpe Trolley Company will offer trolley rides (weather permitting) on Saturday and Sunday. Hop on and learn all about the history of Mauch Chunk, the legendary figure, Jim Thorpe, and experience town from a warm trolley.

Carriage rides will be also be available each day.

On Friday night, Rush Experience will play at the Mauch Chunk Opera House and on Saturday ELO Tribute Show will perform there. Tickets are available.

The annual Mug Walk will be on Saturday and Sunday, including a family warming station at the Mauch Chunk Ballroom (41 West Broadway) with vendors and games for the kids and a second warming station at Art on Center (410 Center Avenue).

On Saturday, the Winterfest Blues Afterparty will start at 6 p.m. at the Hofford Mill in Weissport.

The main parking area will be the Carbon County Municipal Parking lot, located at 1 Susquehanna Street just north of the train station. The cost is $12 per day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Parking is also available at the County Parking Lot at 41 Susquehanna Street, just south of the train station.

Additional parking will be provided by Immaculate Conception Parish at 163 West Broadway on Saturday and Sunday ($20). Scan the QR code and pay via credit card.

Parking will also be available at 371 West Broadway ($20).

Festival attendees should not park on West Broadway where red permit signs are posted as this is residential permit parking only.
