Broad-wing hawk talk at nature center

The next talk in the Lehigh Gap Nature Center’s speaker series will be “Chasing Broad-winged Hawks from Canada to Columbia: Ecology of a Long Distance Migrant” at 7 p.m. Feb. 22.

Dr. Laurie Goodrich, the director of conservation science at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, will talk about broad-winged hawks, a secretive forest raptor.

In 2014, migration monitoring data showed some populations of broad-winged hawks declining in eastern North America. Hawk Mountain launched a study to understand the full-life cycle ecology and migration of broad-winged hawks.
