Monroe County Commissioners
The Monroe County commissioners approved the following at their meeting on Wednesday morning:
• Sheriff’s Office Overtime Report for the period ending Jan. 14 – Deputies, 36 hours; security, 54 hours; clerks, 4.50 hours
• Mileage reimbursement rate for county employees to 67 cents per mile effective Jan. 1;
• Eastern Monroe Public Library: The appointment of Dr. Judith Magann to the Board of Trustees with a term to expire Dec. 31, 2026; and the resignation of Erik Diemer from the Board of Trustees. He has been elected as county controller.
• Maintenance: Service agreement with Johnsons Controls Inc. from Feb. 1 to Jan. 31, 2025 in a total amount of $26,542; service agreement with Dempsey Uniform and Linen Supply at rates listed on the agreement for two years, expiring on Jan. 31, 2026; and the quote from R.W. Masten to install metal door with steel frame at 701 Main St., District Attorney’s Office, third floor for a total of $1,696;
• Monroe County Affordable Housing Board – Reappointment of Thomas Wilkins to a new term to expire Dec. 31, 2028; the Fiscal Year 2024 Act 137 Budget totaling $639,787.56; the Act 137 funding of $60,000 from the 2024 Affordable Housing budget to Monroe County Habitat for Humanity for Home Preservation Program;
• Monroe County Area Agency on Aging: Advisory Council reappointments: Sarah DePaolo, Connie McCool and Erma Pound, all with a new term to expire Dec. 31, 2026; appointing Constance DiLego to the Advisory Council with a term to expire Dec. 31, 2026; contract addendum with Lifeline Systems Co. through June 30, 2024 at rate of $28 per month for standard landline and cellular; contract addendum with CareGivers America through June 30, 2024 at rate of $19.85 per hour; contract with Jjireh Home Care Inc. doing business as Caring Matters Home Care for Personal Care and Home Support Services through June 30, 2027 at $20.50 per hour for personal and home care services; contract with Monroe County Transportation Authority through Dec. 31, 2025 for transportation reimbursement; and lease agreement with Pocono Services for Families and Children through Dec. 31, 2026 at rates listed in Schedule A of the agreement;
• Monroe County Correctional Facility: Executing an interagency agreement with Merakay (formerly NHS) for continuity of care through Oct. 1, 2025 for former inmate services.
• Monroe County Hospital Authority Board: The resignation of Janet K. Weidensaul from the Hospital Board effective Jan. 24.
• Monroe County Industrial Development Authority: Reappoint these board of directors: Troy Nauman, Rick Mutchler and Janet Weidensaul, all with a new term to expire Dec. 31; and approve clarifying language to the cooperation agreement regarding the Smithfield Tax Increment Project.
• Monroe County Planning Commission: Reappoint the following to the Agricultural Land Preservation Board: Glen W. Beers, Russell Gould, Mark Green, Carl S. Heckman, Mark Heckman, Robert Serfass, and Richard Snyder, all with a new term to expire Jan. 31, 2027.
• Monroe County Probation: Services agreement with the University of Cincinnati Research Institute for staff training to be paid from supervision fees in the amount of $8,000; and approve Juvenile Probation Services Grant Agreement in the amount of $96,790 for the period through June 30;
• Pocono Mountains Regional Airport: Reappoint Adam Kerick to the board with a new term to expire Jan. 30, 2029.
