Sports teams and clubs in the Pleasant Valley School District can now distribute awards and letters at their banquets held off campus. But no alcohol can be served at the event, nor brought to the event for consumption there.

The school board approved a change to its policy during their meeting Thursday night. This was the second time the policy has changed.

Last year, the school board changed the policy requiring awards and letters to be given out only at events and banquets held on campus. Teams and clubs could still hold a banquet off campus, but the awards could not be part of the event.

That change was made because alcohol consumption at an event has caused problems to occur with adults attending the event.

The newest policy change gives teams and clubs more options. Now they can choose where to hold a banquet or awards event - either on or off campus - just no alcohol allowed.

The vote to approve was made, and approved unanimously with no comments about the change.
