Soup sale ends

Effort UMC’s soup sale-Chili and Turkey Mediterranean-will end Feb. 13. pick-up date is Feb. 18.

This will be the last soup sale until Fall.

Lenten start-ups

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting an interactive evening of Discovering Lent for all from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, in McCawley Hall.

Ash Wednesday

Effort UMC will begin its Lenten study on Ash Wednesday.

Jeff Albert will lead participants on a Lenten Journey that will be biblically grounded, challenging and fun. The study will begin with soup and salad in Wesley Hall from 5:30 to 6 p.m. with the study to follow from 6 to 6:50 p.m.

Attendees will make it out in time for the Lenten Service at 7 p.m. There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Early sign-up was requested so the church would know how many books to order and how much soup and salad to prepare.

McMichaels UMC is hosting an Ash Wednesday service with an Imposition of Ashes at 7 p.m.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold Ash Wednesday Mass at 8 a.m., 12:10 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Prayer services and ashes will be held at 4 and 5 p.m.

Pleasant Valley Presbyterian has been invited to attend service hosted by First Presbyterian Church of Stroudsburg on Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. Anyone interested can contact the church at 570-992-0158 for the possibility of arranging a carpool.

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran will hold services at 1 and 7 p.m. with Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion.

St. John’s Lutheran, Effort, will hold its Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.

WP Lions meeting

The Western Pocono Lions Club will meet at noon, Feb. 15, at Cherry’s Restaurant in Kresgeville.

Live UMC service

Folks can now view the 8:30 a.m. service Live by going to the church web page: effortumc.org and clicking on the three lines in the upper right corner which will give one a drop down list. Click “stream” and all should work.

QV Workshops set

Four offerings are being offered at Quiet Valley on March 2 under the banner of Cabin Workshop Day: Pysanky Egg Decorating, Beginner Knitting, Savory & Sweet, and Woven Easter Basket.

Philly Flower Show

A bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show is on the calendar for Chestnuthill Township out of the Chestnuthill Township Park on March 4 with participant arrival requested by 7:45 a.m. and bus pull-out slated for 8 a.m.

The return trip begins at 4:30 p.m. and arrival home is slated for 7 p.m.
