This week’s TN Wrestling roundup focuses on matches from Jan. 22 through Feb. 5.

Most area teams have completed their regular season schedules, and will now turn their attention to the postseason, which begins for the girls with the district tournament Feb. 18, followed by regionals Feb. 25 and states March 7-9.

The District 11 Class 2A and 3A individual tournaments for boys will begin Feb. 23.

The regional tournaments will be held March 1-2, followed by states March 7-9.

Look for a final wrapup after the postseason concludes.

Maggie Pagotto pinned Lillian Baker (York Suburban) in 1:33 to place third at 148 pounds Feb. 4. Pagotto pinned Eva-Cruz Germain (Central Dauphin East) in 0:16 in the quarterfinals, and bounced back from a loss in the semis by pinning Betsy Arana-Figueroa (Schuylkill Valley) in 1:46 in the consolations semis.

• Palmerton - Samara Elliot posted an 8-2 decision over Tamaqua’s Alexis Jones at 170 pounds in the Blue Bombers’ 27-6 win Jan. 23 ... Cassidy Merkel placed eighth at 124 pounds at the Honesdale Tournament Jan. 28. Merkel bounced back from a loss in her first match by pinning Danica Butch (Parkland) in 2:04 and earning a 3-2 decision over Ella Smith (Delaware Valley) in her next two consolation matches before falling to Rozalyn Mikulak (Honesdale) in the consolation semis and Chloe Griffith (Hanover Area) in the seventh-place match. In a 25-24 win over Hanover at the PMW Pink Panther Duals Fab. 3, Merkel won an 11-2 major decision against Aibreann Mullin, and posted a 7-2 decision over Wallenpaupack’s Charlotte Fetherman ... - Gretchen Schaible won a 9-3 decision over Hanover’s Kaidence Ankner Fab. 3 ... • Panther Valley - Unbeaten Brenda Banks added another championship to her resume by winning the 235-pound weight class as the Battle of the Buck Jan. 28. Banks posted a 3-0 decision over Quakertown’s Peyton Fries in the semifinals before registering a pin at the 1:57 mark of the finals against Souderton’s MacKenna Atkinson. Banks earned another tournament title, taking first at 235 pounds at the Lady Vikings Classic Feb. 3. Banks registered a quick 19-second pin in the semifinals before gaining a fall over Peyton Fries at 2:00 of the finals. Banks has 14 pins this season ... Anelia Bennick (155) and Alisa Williams (170) were both sixth at the Battle of the Bucks. Both had pins in the quarterfinals. Williams posted a 1:38 pin in the semis before falling in the championship round at 170 pounds at the Lady Viking Classic. Kyla McQuillen added a third at 148 at the event. McQuillen had two pins, including a 20-second fall in the third-place bout.

• Tamaqua - Amanda Chen pinned Palmerton’s Jade Kuhns in 0:50 at 112 pounds in the Raiders’ 27-6 loss Jan. 23. Chen now has five pins this season.
