Lansford police charge 2 with forgery

Lansford police arrested two people on felony fraud warrants after executing a search warrant on an apartment in Tamaqua early Wednesday morning.

Jarred Troxell, 19, and Narolin Trinidad, 29, of 309 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, were arraigned by District Judge Beth Dodson on charges of forgery, conspiracy, theft by deception and bad checks.

Both were jailed in the Carbon County prison in lieu of $15,000 bail each.

According to arrest papers, Lansford police received a complaint on Nov. 30 from Community Bank on West Ridge Street in the borough regarding fraudulent checks in the amount of $1,270 used by Troxell and Trinidad.

The pair came into the Lansford branch on Nov. 10 and opened separate accounts, and both made deposits and withdrawals over the next several days, court papers said.

Troxell wrote a $300 check from Wells Fargo and endorsed to Jason’s Lawn Care, which was listed as the same Tamaqua address as Troxell and Trinidad, and deposited into his account Nov. 14.

Another check for $470 from Zaprazny Inc. via Wells Fargo was deposited into Troxell’s account, and endorsed to and signed by Troxell on Nov. 15, court papers said.

On Nov. 16, $60 and $200 was withdrawn from Troxell’s account via a PNC Bank ATM in Lansford, and $130 was sent from Troxell’s Community Bank account to Trinidad’s account, court papers said.

A personal check for $1,000 from Troxell’s Wells Fargo account was mobile deposited into Trinidad’s account on Nov. 17. Both Trinidad and Troxell signed it, court papers said.

The bank later found out that Troxell’s Wells Fargo account was closed prior to him writing the check, and the check endorsed to Jason’s Lawn Care came back to the bank as fraudulent, court papers said.

The pair came into Community Bank together on Nov. 20, and withdrew $500 from Trinidad’s account. The check from Zaprazny came back that day as fraudulent, court papers said.

On Nov. 21, two checks for $950 and $990 from Troxell’s closed Wells Fargo account were mobile deposited into his Community Bank account. Due to the previous fraudulent checks, the bank stopped these funds from being accessible, court papers said.

Community Bank made several attempts to contact Troxell and Trinidad about their accounts and transactions, and the pair made no attempts to respond or return any money, court papers said.

Lansford police attempted to contact the pair at their Tamaqua address on Jan. 24. Troxell could be seen inside, but he refused to open the door or speak to officers, court papers said.

Coaldale and Tamaqua police assisted officers from Lansford with the search warrant. Tamaqua police later received a drug-related search warrant.

Following the arrest, Lansford police said officers and “the Carbon County District Attorney will investigate, charge and prosecute any crimes that occur regardless of where the criminals flee to.”

Preliminary hearings are scheduled Feb. 21.
