The Historical Commission presented an award to Karl Rolappe for his service on the commission during Thursday’s Towamensing Township supervisors meeting.
Rolappe had been a part of the Historical Commission since 2008, starting as secretary then treasurer, working his way up to leadership.
“We need to stay connected to our past to aid our future,” Rolappe said. “We need to know how our ancestors existed for survival.”
Other business
• Plans for Gary and Nadine Kleintop’s reverse subdivision at 1915 Summer Mountain Road were ready for approval as all conditions were met.
• Discussion about Waste Management renewal was tabled.
• The roadmaster’s report included that they are servicing equipment and putting together a bid package for road projects.
• There were five incidents in January requiring the fire companies’ assistance. The fire company is expecting a new tanker this week, which should be in service by mid-March. Vendors are needed for the fire companies May 11 craft fair.
• It was noted that there was an executive session concerning legal issues before the meeting.
• The next supervisors meeting is March 7.
