Letter to the editor: Response to Inflammatory Comments made by Susan Wild

Dear Editor,

As a lifelong resident of Carbon County, I can firmly say Susan Wild is wrong. Her comments imply that the residents of Carbon County are somehow inferior and unable to think for themselves. I disagree because I’ve served as a witness to the grit, determination and intelligence of this community. Doctors, engineers, tradesmen, miners, truck drivers, nurses, entrepreneurs and some of the highest-ranking members of the military were born, raised and still reside in Carbon County. These individuals who help run our society call Carbon County home.

Susan Wild is Carbon County’s congresswoman, and we quickly learned the type of politician she is. Her political ideology and values simply do not align with the foundation Carbon County residents stand on. She supports open borders and public benefits for illegal immigrants while Pennsylvanians who she supposedly represents in Washington, D.C., go homeless.

Wild voted against a resolution condemning President Biden for giving $6 billion to Iranian terrorists. Her progressive voting record has caused record inflation, and her anti-American energy policies have forced one out of six households to fall behind on their energy bills. She is soft on crime and supports early release for violent criminals while at the same time, votes against the rights of law-abiding citizens. If you ask me, you don’t need to drink any Kool-Aid to understand her track record. You just need common sense.

Representative Wild, I believe you are an intelligent person and used a calculated choice of words. You purposely spoke to demean and marginalize those who see through your actions and do not support you.

The residents of Carbon County are listening, and I highly suggest for you to follow. I would encourage you to spend some time in Carbon County and listen to the concerns of the residents. The hardworking men and women who live in this community deserve your respect.

Sincerely,

Doyle Heffley

State Representative, R-Carbon
