Traffic issues raised in Palmerton

Traffic issues were raised at the Palmerton Borough Council last week.

Speeding motorists, and vehicles going through intersections, were among the complaints.

Resident Jared Cebrosky said he was walking his dog at Third Street and Columbia Avenue and a vehicle refused to stop at the stop sign.

Cebrosky suggested to council that a stop bar be painted to indicate to motorists where to stop.

“Cars just go right through the intersection,” Cebrosky said.

Resident Vik Thomas discussed speeding along Lafayette Avenue.

“They just don’t slow down,” Thomas said.

Councilman Andrew Hollywood asked Thomas if he believes speeding has gotten worse around town.

Thomas said he had no idea, but that speeding is prevalent in his area.
